Finally fixed.

I blogged the other week that the camera virtual shutter on my iphone 4 wasnt opening...  well i took it to the apple store today because i had enough of not being able to take pictures when i needed to... it turns out it was a hardware issue. The women was pleasant and suggested i go home and do a clean wipe... i wasnt really prepared to do that (as i read on the apple support forums) so i asked if she could do it for me and we could check and guess what? after a clean wipe the camera was still not working. So she replaced my iphone. 

So if you are getting a frozen shutter it's a hardware issue even though it looks like a software issue.... my guess is the shutter is closed but only opens up when it communicates with the camera so if it's broken it cant. Seems to be a common problem looking at the  apple support forums.
